Fall Fun

Last week Aidan's school held its annual Storybook parade. It's always so fun to see the kids dressed up in their costumes. There were a couple of super creative ones this year: one boy was even dressed as a quadratic equation (a character from his algebra textbook). Hilarious!

Some of the younger siblings came along for the fun as well. I caught this group of lovely princesses (Belle, a couple of Cinderellas, and Sleeping Beauty) reading up on their fairy tales before the parade started.

Aidan's class up on stage. Aidan is Robin Hood, third from the left.

A few days later, they all got a chance to dress up again when we held a fall festival for the children in our building. As you can see below, Spiderman was a popular costume choice (Aidan's the middle left, then Lucas, then their friend Caleb). Indiana Jones (left) made an appearance as well. (Kai was a baby dragon, and he was adorable. You will just have to take my word for it since I can't show you!)

We did all the traditional activities, like bobbing for apples. I ran into our Taiwanese neighbor's son in the elevator on the way down and told him we were having a fall party and he was welcome to come join us. He asked me, "Are you going to be doing that thing where you pick apples out of water with your mouth?" I laughed and said, "Bobbing for apples? Yes!" He turned to his mom and said with wonder, "Wow! It's just like in the stories!" Haha.

This Spiderman was able to snag an apple, despite missing a large number of teeth.

Even the princesses gave it a try.

The littlest Spiderman was a big fan of the cookie
decorating.

Eating huge quantities of sugar was also on his agenda for the afternoon.

The kids also enjoyed listening to a pumpkin story read by Miss Bethany while Miss Leah carved up a special, very-hard-to-find-in-Taiwan pumpkin.

The kids had a blast!

I think I would have too! I Love fall! I am always telling Cam I want to have a fall party! I heard you had some homemade candy corn at this party??? Is that true?

We did! Keely's mom made homemade candy corn. I didn't even know there was such a thing as homemade candy corn, but it was delicious!

This is the second year we've done the fall party at our building. It's been fun to do and it gives the kids a chance to experience a little American culture. :)
